Route: Lal Jain Mandir - Gauri Shankar Mandir - Begam Samroo Haveli - Central Baptist Church - Dariba Gurudwara Sis Ganj - Sunehri Masjid - Colonial Houses - Town Hall-Chunnamal havelli-Fatehpui Masjid. |

Shahjahan shifted his capital from Agra to Delhi due to political instability and weather condition. Shahjahanabad was thus developed on the Yamuna bank in Kurmuka style of urban planning. The Bow and arrow shape was designed in such a way that Redfort became the Bow and the Chandni Chowk was the arrow. This walk will cover this main street of Chandni Chowk, the main artery of "City of Shahjahan". The making of "Shahjahanabad" in 1638, the exact location "Chandni Chowk", the location Nahar, a peek into various religions, a visit to rich Heritage Havelli, Culdesac's existing, concept of Kuncha and Katras are some of the main attractions on this Heritage Walk. |

Shahjahanabad was developed with various Katras and Kunchas catering to various occupation or sect or religion. This walk gives an insight of many areas like Chandni Chowk main artery, Dariba- the street of jewellers, Kinari bazaar,the bazaar of Zari for royal ladies, Katra Kushal Rai, in the name of Lala Kushal Rai which is an abode of Sheesh mahal (where Stephen College started)and Rang mahal and many other havellies of architectural importance, Dharampura which is famous for its unique Jain Temple, Vakilpura and ending at the Gate no. 3 of Jama Masjid. This walk treads the way into narrow fascinating lanes appreciating the artwork of Mughal era and at the same time the community living in this area. |
